The cartridge controls the opening and closing of the water supply through the flow-control assembly. In thermostatic mixers, it performs a different function from the thermostatic cartridge that regulates water temperature. Identify the original flow-valve reference and exact mixer model before ordering. Compare the existing cartridge's shape, threaded connection and handle engagement with the product photographs. The nominal 3/4-inch size alone does not establish fitment, and a shared Grohtherm or Automatic 2000 range name is not sufficient to identify the correct valve.

For 19657000 and 34963000 installations, check whether the existing flow valve is 07025000 or the separately specified ceramic valve 45885000. Do not assume that these different valve references are interchangeable.

Troubleshooting and Fitting

Symptom: water continues dripping from the shower head or spout after the control is turned off. Likely cause: the flow valve is not sealing correctly; the condition of the valve seat should also be checked. Solution: identify the installed flow valve, inspect the sealing arrangement and replace the faulty component as appropriate. A new cartridge will not repair a damaged valve-body seat.

Isolate the water supply before removing the existing cartridge. Follow the servicing instructions for the exact mixer, check the seating and threads, and test for leaks and correct shut-off after reassembly. A temperature-control fault requires separate diagnosis rather than automatically replacing the on/off valve.
