The GROHE 47917000 is a chrome temperature control handle for the Grohtherm 2000 thermostatic shower and bath/shower mixers listed below. It is the external temperature-adjustment control, not the flow-control handle or an internal cartridge.
The handle operates the thermostatic adjustment mechanism to select the mixed-water temperature. It is intended for repairs to the temperature-handle assembly; the internal thermostatic cartridge and the separate water shut-off mechanism are serviced independently.
| Part code | 47917000 |
|---|---|
| Part type | external temperature-control handle |
| Finish | chrome with GROHE Long-Life finish |
| Safety feature | GROHE SafetyPlus |
| Temperature safety stop | 38 degrees C, with push-button override |
| Temperature end stop | 43 degrees C, preassembled in the handle |
| Fixing arrangement | screw-secured handle with cover cap |
| Associated cover-cap code | 4788300M |
The 38 degrees C safety stop and 43 degrees C temperature end stop have different functions. Pressing the safety button allows adjustment beyond 38 degrees C, while the end stop limits further temperature adjustment. Correct calibration is essential; handle position alone does not confirm the actual outlet temperature.
Check the complete mixer model code, existing temperature handle and fixing arrangement. The Grohtherm 2000 name alone does not identify the correct handle, and shower-only and bath/shower models use different flow controls. Establish whether the damaged component is the handle, cover cap or internal cartridge before selecting parts.
These are separate mixer components and servicing items, not the contents of the handle. Select them according to the exact mixer model and the fault being repaired; the shower-only ceramic headpart and bath/shower Aquadimmer components are not interchangeable.
Follow the instructions for the exact mixer. When temperature recalibration is required, check the running water with a thermometer, adjust the regulating mechanism to 38 degrees C and refit the temperature handle with its safety button at the top. Refit the securing screw and cover cap, then check the safety stop and maximum temperature. Isolate both water supplies before dismantling internal water-carrying components.
Changing the external handle will not correct an internal thermostatic-cartridge fault. Where the water temperature is incorrect or unstable, check the temperature setting and internal mixer components rather than assuming that the handle is the cause.
For help identifying the correct part, send photographs of the mixer and removed handle, together with the model code, to our part identification service.
