Cartridge number 14096000 is a Hansgrohe produced replacement part. It includes a tool that will help in undoing the retaining ring, nut, and cartridge collar. The cartridge will fit in Hansgrohe single lever thermostatic mixers Axor, ibox, Metris, Metropol, and Mondial.
Extracting Cartridge HG-14096000 from the Shower Valve
A cartridge, especially that of excellent quality, can last a long time given good water conditions. A high level of water hardness is less ideal that can fast track the operational life of the implement.
In attempting to repair the shower valve, make sure hot and cold water supplies are completely isolated. Apply silicone grease on the new cartridge o-rings before inserting it in the valve seat.
For the Hansgrohe Axor: Pop the screw cover out and undo the screw to remove the lever handle. Pull the protective shroud out and turn the retaining ring anticlockwise to remove the escutcheon. Unscrew the nut with the use of the special tool that comes with the HG-14096000 and extract the cartridge.
For the Hansgrohe Metropol: Take the screw cover out and undo the grub screw. Lift the lever handle off. Remove all the parts under and use the tool for the collar removal. Extract the cartridge.
