GROHE 47217000 is a 1/2 inch thermostatic cartridge with a non-rising spindle, used to control mixed water temperature in specific GROHE thermostatic shower valves, bath and shower mixers, shower systems and electronic thermostatic mixers. The cartridge contains the thermostatic element that reacts to changes in the incoming water supplies and adjusts the mixed-water temperature.
This screw-in wax thermo-element is used across a number of GROHE Amera, Aquatower, Chiara, Eurodisc SE, THM, Rainshower, Tenso, Atrio and Europlus E assemblies. Check the exact GROHE model or valve code against the confirmed applications below. Do not identify this cartridge by diameter alone. GROHE uses a different cartridge, 47220000, in certain 3/4 inch thermostat bodies. Applications with reversed or changed hot and cold waterways can use GROHE 47657000 reverse-supply thermostatic cartridge instead of the standard 47217000.
When installing the cartridge, the sealing O-rings should be lightly lubricated with a suitable silicone grease before the cartridge is inserted into the valve body. This helps the seals seat correctly and reduces the risk of damaging or displacing an O-ring during installation.
