GROHE 46989000 SmartControl Shower Temperature Mixing Cartridge
The GROHE 46989000 is a temperature-mixing cartridge for the SmartControl concealed manual shower mixers listed below. It sits inside the mixer behind the temperature control and adjusts the blend of hot and cold water.
This is the manual temperature-mixing cartridge, not a thermostatic cartridge or the separate flow-control cartridge that switches an outlet on and off. Integrated dirt strainers help protect the mixing mechanism and can be cleaned during servicing. This listing is for the cartridge, not a complete shower mixer or trim set.

The following shower sets use 46989000 within their supplied SmartControl mixer. Check that the original mixer remains fitted before ordering.
Confirm the exact mixer model and the existing cartridge reference. SmartControl manual mixers and Grohtherm SmartControl thermostatic mixers use different temperature-control components. The number of control buttons, trim shape or a shared concealed installation box is not sufficient to identify the correct cartridge.
Select the cartridge from the exact mixer fitted to the box, not from the SmartBox reference alone.
Isolate both water supplies before dismantling the mixer. Follow the service procedure for the exact model, rinse the dirt strainers and inspect the seals before reassembly. Use the correct tool on the fixing nut, observe the tightening limit and check for leaks and correct temperature adjustment after refitting.
If water continues to drip from a shower outlet after it has been switched off, check the separate outlet flow-control cartridge before assuming that the temperature-mixing cartridge is at fault. Temperature selection and outlet shut-off are separate functions in these mixers.
If the mixer or cartridge cannot be identified, contact us for help identifying the part with photographs of the shower controls, existing cartridge and any visible reference codes.
