The thermostat element is the temperature-sensitive part of the thermostatic cartridge. It reacts to changes in water temperature so the cartridge can regulate the mixture of hot and cold water. A worn or failed thermostat element can cause poor temperature control, difficulty reaching the required temperature or the shower remaining at one temperature.
