This cartridge will work in your shower regardless of the external finish (BRASS/GOLD/CHROME) as this is an INTERNAL fitting component.
Please note that most retailers don't sell the SK971006 cartridge with the piston and the element. There is an overwhelming chance that if the SK971006 cartridge housing needs replacing then the piston and the element need replacing also.

Bristan SK971006 thermostatic cartridge assembly works with Bristan single control Colonial and Sonique shower valves. Both valves are compliant with the British Standards Institution’s BS EN 1287:1999 and BS EN 1111:1999.
To identify the main cause of your shower valve when it begins to encounter issues relating to the temperature regulation of water flow, please ensure the hot and cold water supply lines are properly connected to their respective side – hot side to the left and cold side to the right. Ascertain water from the supply lines are able to reach the valve unit.
See if the valve is correctly set-up and ensure the hot water from the boiler is at a 60°C minimum temperature.
The cause of the issue can also arise from the thermostatic cartridge residing inside the valve. Mineral residue from hard water can develop between the piston and the cartridge or between the cartridge and the valve unit.
Fitting the Bristan SK971006 Thermostatic Assembly for the Bristan Colonial and Sonique Shower Valves
To install the SK971006 Bristan cartridge, please ensure that hot and cold water are fully isolated. If isolation valves cannot be found, please shut off the main water supply.
1: Removing the Handle
A: For the Bristan Colonial shower valve: pop out the handle’s decorative indicator and unscrew the handle prong by hand.
B: For the Bristan Sonique shower valve: a screw can be found on the top of the handle cap.
2: Extract the handle cap. Use a spanner to undo the cartridge. Then remove the thermostat and piston assembly.
3: Lightly apply silicone grease on every o-rings and seals found on the new Bristan SK971006 cartridge assembly.
4: Affix the whole piston assembly, spring first, into the valve housing. Then install the thermostatic cartridge. Tighten it in place through a spanner.
5: Restore the handle cap and the handle prong.
