The S960023NU is a pair of 3/4 inch ceramic disc flow cartridges for selected Ideal Standard and Armitage Shanks bath taps, bath fillers and bath/shower mixers. The pair comprises one clockwise-close cartridge and one anti-clockwise-close cartridge. A brass-bodied version is supplied in place of the earlier black plastic version.

These cartridges control the water flow and shut-off beneath the tap handles. Persistent dripping from the bath spout or shower head after the controls have been turned off can indicate worn or damaged ceramic disc internals. Replacing the correctly identified cartridges can restore shut-off where those cartridges are causing the leak. They are flow-control components, not thermostatic cartridges or bath/shower diverters.

Technical Details

Hot and cold positions depend on the tap design. Match each cartridge by its part reference and closing direction rather than assuming that the same direction always identifies the hot or cold side.

Before Ordering and Fitting

Check the exact tap model, existing cartridge references, closing directions and handle connections before ordering. The nominal 3/4 inch size alone does not establish fitment. Earlier Waterways E0645AA arrangements list A951960NU11 and A951961NU11, so the existing internals must be checked rather than selecting by the Waterways name alone.

Isolate both water supplies before removing the cartridges. Keep track of which cartridge and handle assembly came from each side, and follow the fitting instructions for the tap. Check the handles, spline adapters and retaining screws for damage while the controls are dismantled.
