It is the control-side cartridge used to turn the shower on and off and divert flow between the fixed shower head and the adjustable height handset.

This part is for the left-hand flow / diverter control on the Aqualisa Dual exposed shower valve. The temperature control is on the right-hand side of the valve, while the left-hand control selects the outlet: away from the wall for the fixed head, towards the wall for the adjustable height head, and central upright for off.
