Will the cartridge fit in both sides of the Rangemaster Aquatrend tap?
No, it will not. And this is why: the turn which the cartridge opens and closes water flow. A cartridge with a red bottom seal opens in a clockwise quarter turn while a blue one opens in the opposite direction.
Generally, the red bottom seal cartridge would sit on the hot side of the tap as the handle opens in the same direction (clockwise).
The tap is dripping from the base. Will a replacement valve fix it?
It will depend on the root cause of the leak. It could be the TRE1BL cartridge or the tap Seal Kit.
