This is a quality replacement cartridge for Rangemaster Aquatrend taps. It is a ceramic disc valve with one O-ring and a red bottom seal. The turn direction of the spare part is clockwise to allow water flow.
Wear and tear can cause the seals of the Rangemaster Aquatrend cartridge to deteriorate leading to leaks. It might be high time to replace it.

2.) A 17mm spanner size is used to remove the cartridge and to tighten it in place.
