Ultra thermostatic cartridge ZSPSBARCA12 is the shower spare used in the Hudson Reed Genie shower panel.

– Before opening the shower panel:
The water supplies and pressure leading to the shower must be isolated or shut off. This is a safety precaution that will prevent scalding in case of accidental water flow. Shutting off the shower’s pressure will stop the cartridge from inadvertently popping out of the valve.

Shut the mains if the isolation valve cannot be found.

Turn the shower on to check if water supply isolation is achieved.

– Opening the shower panel:
There is a retaining screw around the handle. Remove the screw and the subsequent parts to get to the Ultra ZSPSBARCA12 thermostatic cartridge. The cartridge type is non-threaded and push-fit. Hence, grub screw which holds the cartridge in place can be removed using an Allen key.

The old cartridge can be discarded or kept for future reference.

– Silicone grease and shower repair:
Greasing the O-rings of the replacement ZSPSBARCA12 Ultra thermostatic cartridge will help it seal in the valve properly.

– Checking the results:
After the shower thermostatic cartridge is installed and the handle restored, open water supplies and pressure. Then, cycle the shower from hot to cold a few times. Also, check the water temperature and see if there are no leaks.

The minimum operating pressure for the shower panel is 2 bar and the maximum is 5 bar. The static water pressure must not go over 5 bar. Water pressure between hot and cold supplies must be equal.
