Question: THG Paris shower valve is only giving scalding hot water. Is this because of the thermostatic cartridge?
Answer: The THG Paris Ref 5100a has a security stop at 38℃ (100.4℉). If the shower is running overly hot, the cold pipe might be clogged or the thermostatic cartridge broken.

Question: We recently had our home’s water system changed from gravity fed to a combi boiler. The shower is having issues relating to temperature control since then. Can you please clarify if the problem is because of the new boiler or the THG Paris shower cartridge?
Answer: The hot and cold pipes must have equal water pressure. If the pressure is unbalanced, try adjusting it or a pressure-equalizing valve can be installed. Please check out our Water Systems Guide for more information.

If the pressure is okay, replacing the THG Paris thermostatic cartridge may get your shower back to normal.

Question: Will this shower cartridge stop the THG Paris shower from leaking?
Answer: This will depend on where the leak is coming from. The THG Paris thermostatic cartridge might be broken if the leak is coming from the temperature control handle or the shower head.

Shower Valve Repair with the THG Paris Shower Cartridge

The THG Paris shower thermostatic cartridge is the temperature control spare part for the Ref 5100a. Here are a few tips and tricks for shower repair.

1. Always isolate or shut off water supplies and pressure to the shower valve before starting the repair.

2. The old thermostatic cartridge can be kept as a reference when the THG Paris shower cartridge needs to be replaced again.

3. Apply plumbing grease on the THG Paris replacement thermostatic shower cartridge then fit it in the Ref 5100a valve. (Please move to the section below for the silicone-based plumber’s grease.)

4. Calibrate the cartridge by turning the splines anti-clockwise to increase the temperature and clockwise to decrease the temperature.

5. The stop point on the temperature stop ring must point at the valve’s 11:00.

6. Cycle the shower from hot and cold a few times after fitting the replacement THG Paris cartridge for Ref 5100a.
