Thermostatic shower cartridges work as water from the feeds enter the two gauze filters. The core of the cartridge then operates to regulate temperature according to user preference. The cartridges can break down after years and years of use, thus, requiring a replacement.
Measurements: The right replacement thermostatic shower cartridge must meet the measurement specification to properly fit in the valve. This shower spare part is 120mm in length. It is a non-threaded, push-fit cartridge. A screw is used to anchor it in the shower valve.
This replacement part has a long spindle. The spindle connects the cartridge with the shower temperature control handle. If it is too long, you won’t be able to attach the handle correctly. On the other hand, leaks can result if it is too short. (Please refer to the second photo in the gallery to see a visual representation of the measurements.)
Spline Teeth Count: The splines are the ridges at the top of the spindle. This 120mm thermostatic shower cartridge has a total of 24 spline notches. The count of the splines in this cartridge must match with the count on the splines your cartridge has or it will not fit at all.

Here are a few basic tips for changing the 120mm thermostatic shower cartridge.
– Isolate water supplies before opening the shower valve. If you are unable to locate the isolation screws/valve, please shut off the water supply from the mains.
– The faulty cartridge can be discarded or kept as a reference in case you need to change it in the future.
– After fitting the new thermostatic shower cartridge with 120mm length, cycle the shower from hot to cold a few times.
