A bar shower is also known as an exposed shower valve, meaning the whole unit is assembled external a shower enclosure wall. Comparing it to a recessed shower valve, an exposed shower valve is affordable and easier to set up and repair.

Bristan TWK-2A is a cartridge spare part that fits in bar showers made by the same company. The barrel of an earlier style of the cartridge is made out of nylon. It has two gauzings for cold and hot water and four external o-rings as a leak prevention implement.

Fixing a Bristan Combi Shower with a TWK-2A Bristan Shower Spare

A thermostatic cartridge is located on the right side of a bar type shower valve.

1. To begin dismantling the valve, isolate cold and hot water lines. Remove the handle cap to reach and undo the screw. Then remove the whole temperature handle assembly.
2. With a spanner unfasten the thermostatic cartridge.

3. Flush the valve with water to clean it.

4. Grease the Bristan TWK-2A cartridge O-rings with grease made for plumbing and fit it inside the valve seat. Secure the threads using a spanner. Calibrate if desired.
5. Reattach the temperature handle and the handle cap. Then proceed to open water supplies.


Detecting TWK-2A Bristan Thermostatic Cartridge Issues
Fluctuating temperatures or unsuccessful temperature regulation, water dripping or weak water flow may be symptoms of a failing thermostatic cartridge.

When water temperature becomes unstable and impossible, especially during a shower, a wax element turned faulty could be the cause. Dripping might be brought about by a rupture in the cartridge barrel. Deficiency in water flow can be the result of sediment blockage.

In these two cases, the Bristan shower valves requires a replacement TWK-2A cartridge replacement.
