Bathstore Thermostatic Cartridge: Deck Mounted Bath Valves What / Why / How

A variety of problems that can affect the Bathstore thermostatic cartridge used in deck mounted bath and shower valves. In most cases replacing the cartridge is a requisite to get the valve operation back as new.

[What:] Temperature fluctuations.
[Why:] An imbalance of water pressure or a faulty Bathstore deck mounted bath thermostatic cartridge.
[How:] Water pressure can change without warning. Check the pressure. If there is no problem with pressure, the Bathstore thermostatic cartridge is not working properly and might be at the end of its lifespan.

[What:] Hot water temperature has become too low.
[Why:] Water heater temperature is low or the Bathstore thermostatic cartridge of the deck mounted bath valve has deteriorated.
[How:] Increase the water heater to a maximum 65℃ (149℉). If the water heater is fine, the Bathstore thermostatic cartridge might be the root of the problem.

[What:] Stiff temperature control knob of the Bathstore deck mounted bath valve.
[Why:] Hard water minerals such as calcium, lime and chalk have hardened in-between the splines of the Bathstore thermostatic cartridge and the temperature control knob.
[How:] Replace the thermostatic cartridge of the Bathstore deck mounted bath valve right away. Failing to replace the cartridge in due time can cause more buildup and the control knob permanently stuck. When this happens, a more expensive solution is needed; changing the whole bath valve.

1. Remove the small circular screw cap and loosen the screw.

2. Lift the handle to remove it.

3. Remove the washer, the base ring, and the O-ring.

4. Unscrew the temperature stop ring.

5. Pull the Bathstore thermostatic cartridge from the deck mounted bath valve.
