Standard K40A cartridges and other K40 HWS variants may use different configurations and should not be assumed to be interchangeable.

A replacement cartridge may be required when the mixer lever becomes stiff, temperature or flow adjustment becomes difficult or the tap no longer shuts off correctly. Isolate the hot and cold water supplies before dismantling the mixer and avoid overtightening the retaining nut during reassembly.
