Taking the Measurement: Take the total length of the cartridge from the top of the splines to the bottom of the barrel seal. Measure its diameter, or how wide it is from one side of the thread to the other. If the cartridge does not come with threads, measure its widest part. Count the spline notches. Mark the starting point so that you will know where you began counting.

Cartridge Fitment Type: How the cartridge is secured in the valve is of utmost importance. If the cartridge has threads – screw-fitment – the replacement part must also have threads. If the cartridge does not have threads – push-fitment – the replacement spare part must not come with threads.
