Know Your Tap Spare Part Guide: Abode Pico Tap Cartridge

This Abode Pico tap compatible cartridge can solve cartridge-related tap problems such as drips, poor water flow and a stiff to turn handle. This simple guide will describe the cartridge and help you manually identify if this is what you need to accomplish a tap repair.

This Abode Pico tap cartridge is a cold valve compatible insert meaning it opens in an anti-clockwise direction. Its rotation angle is a quarter turn – 90 degrees.

The cartridge has a brass body with a ceramic core ready to tunnel and regulate water flow from the feeds to the tap spout. It has one O-ring which keeps water from leaking out of its barrel.

The Abode Pico tap cartridge has its original part number as ASCDV0009. What you are looking at right now is a compatible spare part. It is not the original, but, it works just as good in addressing tap issues concerning the cartridge at a fraction of the price.

Aside from the Abode Pico, this tap spare can be the replacement part in a variety of taps. This is how you can manually tell if this tap valve part is a fit with what you need to repair:

• Measurements: Begin by opening your tap valve and removing the cartridge. Grab a ruler or other measuring implement and measure the tap valve cartridge you have. You can view the diagram in the gallery above to know which part of the cartridge you should measure.

You can then estimate it with the measurements given in the above section.

• Spline Count: Splines are the jagged teeth situated in the topmost portion of the Abode Pico tap cartridge. At the same time, there are also splines under the tap handle. The splines in these two tap valve parts will pair together and serve as a rotational and anti-rotational mechanism as you open and close the tap.

This is why the number of spline teeth on the cartridge and the tap handle must be the same. This Abode Pico tap spare has 28 teeth.

• Threads: Does your tap’s cartridge have threads on it similar to this tap spare? The threads hold the cartridge in place inside the valve.
• Seal Colour: Red is for hot and blue for cold. This tap valve part cannot be switched with each other as hot and cold have a particular open and close direction. Cold cartridges, like this Abode Pico tap cartridge, opens anti-clockwise. The hot counterpart opens in the opposite direction.
• Important Tap Repair Tip: Greasing the O-ring of the replacement Abode Pico tap cartridge is a must! This is because the grease will help the new part squeeze in the valve and properly seal it in. It can also protect the O-ring from pinching. Please jump to the section below to see the plumbing grease we offer.
