If your cartridge only has 3 o'rings, this cartridge will still work for you.

If your shower is running cold, or hot when you are having a good constant feed of hot and cold to your shower valve then the thermostatic cartridge needs to be replaced. This part controls the mixing of the hot and cold water, therefore when it becomes faulty you will experience water temperature fluctuations.

Furthermore, if your shower valve is leaking from around the temperature control handle, then the thermostatic cartridge will be broken as water is escaping through some part of the cartridge out of the valve.

You can return the cartridge for a refund if it's the wrong part.
