The Methven Aurajet Aio Cool Touch Bar thermostatic cartridge has three parts: the brass housing with splines and thread, a wax thermostat element, and spring. Assemble the cartridge in this order before installing it in the shower valve.

What: Water temperature turns hot to cold again and again whilst showering.
Why: Unstable water temperature can be due to the wax element of the Methven Aurajet Aio thermostatic cartridge that is not working properly. It is nearing the end of its usefulness.
How: The only way to get your shower to function like new is to replace the Cool Touch shower bar’s cartridge.

What: Water temperature refuses to get hot. It is constantly running several degrees of cold water.
Why: Blockage. Sand, dirt and minerals can accrue faster where hot water flows. Thus, the cold yield.
How: Check the non-return valve, the shower valve and the Methven Aurajet Aio thermostatic cartridge for signs of clogs. The better and cost-effective solution for a clogged cartridge is to replace it. And the reason for this? Other parts of the cartridge have likely acquired damage caused by the hardened debris.

Replacement Process: Methven Aurajet Aio Cool Touch Bar Thermostatic Cartridge

The process for replacing the Methven Aurajet Aio thermostatic cartridge can be relatively straightforward. It just takes a few steps and the correct cartridge to get your shower up and running normally.

Please remember to isolate or turn off the water supply prior to replacing the thermostatic cartridge for Methven Aio Aurajet Cool Touch shower bar.

1. Prise out the small circular screw cover cap found on the side of the temperature control handle.
The handle retaining screw can now be accessed.

2. Loosen or remove the retaining screw and pull the handle to separate it from the bar valve.
The temperature stop ring can now be accessed.

3. Study and remember the position of the temperature stop ring’s “stop”. The “stop” is the raised part on the face of the plastic ring. This part has to be returned in the same position during reassembly.
The thermostatic cartridge can now be accessed.

4. Unscrew the faulty Methven Aurajet Aio thermostatic cartridge. Make sure the whole cartridge is removed from the bar valve including the spring.

5. Assemble the replacement Methven Aurajet Aio Cool Touch thermostatic cartridge. Then, lubricate the O-rings.

Note: Only use silicone and heat resistant grease prepared for plumbing applications. Other types of lubricants can quickly deteriorate the seals. Please see the section below for the plumbing grease we carry.

6. Slowly slip the replacement cartridge in the bar valve and secure the threads. (Tighten but do not overtighten.)

7. Reassemble the temperature stop ring in its original position, the handle, retaining screw and screw cover cap.
