What does a thermostatic cartridge do?
A thermostatic cartridge essentially controls the temperature of the water which flows out of the outlet of a shower to protect the user from sudden fluctuations in water temperature. It does this by mixing the hot and the cold together, and in the even of a drop in pressure from either the hot or cold, the cartridge will stop flow to the shower in less than 5 seconds.
