| DETOXIFICATION - Remove dangerous toxins from your body |
- The skin is the body's biggest organ, helping the kidneys detoxify foreign toxins and chemicals out of the body. The skin will absorb chemicals and contaminants that it comes into contact with. This can include perfumes, deodorants, exhaust fumes and make-ups, many of which can contain harmful chemicals.
- The body has between 2,000,000 and 5,000,000 eccrine sweat glands which are distributed over most of the body. Amazingly, there is an average of 150-340 eccrine glands per square centimetre (Britannica).
- Sweat carries toxins and water out of the body through tiny sweat pores on the skin. Chemicals and toxins can also be purged out of the body through oil glands.
In a Di Vapor Solare sauna, the body sweats out 80% water and up to 20% toxins (percentage depends upon the body's toxic burden at the time of the sauna session). In a traditional hot-rock sauna, the body will sweat on average 97% water and 3% toxins. The benefits of a traditional sauna are numerous, however the infrared sauna is far more effective in ridding the body of dangerous toxins.
The Southwest Naturopathic Medical Center states that detoxification is known to help with chronic fatigue, heart disease, depression, headaches, high cholesterol, anxiety, obesity, low blood sugar, allergies, arthritis, chronic infections, digestive disorders and asthma. It is important to detoxify the body of toxins which build up. Some dangerous chemicals and metals in the body include mercury, aluminium, lead, cadmium, pesticides, food additives, PCB (PolyChlorinated Biphenyls) and many more chemicals inhaled and ingested.
